Introduction to the Department of Microbiology and Parasitology

1. Introduction

This department is responsible for providing students with basic knowledge about microbiology and parasites. There are two subjects in charge of the Department of Basic Medicine, which are medical microbiology and medical parasitology. These two subjects include the host; morphology, life cycle and disease caused by common microorganisms and parasites. The knowledge gained upon completion is also the foundation for related specialized subjects such as Microbiology Analysising, Clinical Parasitology, Food Safety Testing, Environmental Health Testing - Occupation. This department also helps students understand and apply the principles and methods of preventing common microbial and parasitic diseases, creating a basis for developing programs and plans in public health, especially related to related to the prevention of diseases caused by bacteria, viruses, and parasites.

The department currently has 2 full-time lecturers including 1 A/Prof. PhD in Parasitology and 1 bachelor of preventive medicine testing, in addition, the Department has the participation of many lecturers from the University's Laboratory Center and Faculty of clinical Medicine.

2. Mission of the Department

The department is responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate students, Complementing specialized knowledge of Medical Laboratory.

Implement independently and coordinate with research units and facilities inside and outside the university to conduct research in the field of Microbiology and Parasitology.
