December 2012 Highlight News

1.    Education News:

-     The Thesis Defense Ceremony for Public Health Specialty I K30 Dong Thap was organized in 2 days on 26th - 27th December 2012. They were passed with 15 good, 21 above – average and 11 average

-      On December 27th, the Science Council had a meeting on unifying the form of tracking final exam for Public Health Bachelor. Accordingly, students will do their own thesis instead of taking an exam with basic subject and specialized subjects.

 2.    Organizational activities News

-      On December 3th 2012, Youth Union assisted Ministry of Health and Rehabilitation Project organized a workshop on community – based Rehabilitation for victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin with the activities of art performances and welcome delegates.

-      The Executive Board of Labour Union held a meeting to summarize the activities of the labour union in 2012 including members of Executive Board of Labour Union and union group leaders on December 26th 2012. 

3.    News of international cooperation

-       Exchanges and cooperation between Hanoi School of Public Health and Burapha University, Thailand on the morning of December 5th 2012. On this occasion, two parties did not only discuss the training and research cooperation, but also questioning the staff and student exchange to improve the professional quality. Parties also agreed the plan of sign a cooperation document between the two universities in February 2013.

-       On December 07th 2012, HSPH welcomed the delegation of Mahidol University - Thailand. The two sides exchanged some information about the training program of 2 University. 

4.    News of other activities

-       On March 12th 2012, a workshop on community – based Rehabilitation for victims of toxic chemical used by the U.S Army in Vietnam war was organized in Hanoi. The workshop with Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien in the chair attracted the participation of nearly 200 delegates representing 63 provinces across the country. Delivering his speech at the workshop, Deputy PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc appreciated great efforts of the Ministry of Health and the provincial governments of Thai Binh, Quang Ngai, Dong Nai in effectively implementing the project. He also appreciated the achieved results of the Project community – based Rehabilitation for victims of toxic chemical used by the U.S Army in Vietnam war (HSPH) that was performed in recently.

 

Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien awarded certificates of merit to individuals and groups of projects "Community – based rehabilitation for victims of toxic chemicals used by the U.S in Vietnam war" (HSPH)  

-       In 5 days (December 3th – 7th 2012), Hanoi School of Public Health (HSPH) in collaboration with United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) and American Red Cross organized a traning course on Hospital Preparedness in Emergencies (HOPE) at HSPH. Participants from hospital at central and provincial levels and hospital in Hanoi took part in this course.

-      On under the project "Strengthening public health training capacity of Hanoi School of Public Health" was took place which attracted the participation of nearly 40 secondary Medical - Pharmaceutical Secondary Schools /Colleges across the country.

-      On December 12th 2012, in Hanoi, the First National Conference on Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) Research was organized by Hanoi School of Public Health in collaboration with Ministry of Health and United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). There were 32 reports divided into 7 main themes, which are priority areas of reproductive health such as family planning - infertility, safe motherhood and newborn care, reproductive / sexual health of adolescents and youth, reproductive health in vulnerable (people with HIV) and genital cancer groups. The Conference has attracted the attention of numerous researchers, policy makers in the field of reproductive health and the mass media to attend and give information.

 

-       The announcement ceremony of decision on recognizing the title of Professor and Associate Professor of 2012 at the Literature Temple (Van Mieu), Quoc Tu Giam, Hanoi on the morning of December 24th 2012. In the assessment of this year, Hanoi School of Public Health (HSPH) have two teachers being recognized as Associate Professors: Assoc. Prof. Tran Huu Bich – Deputy Dean and Assoc. Prof. Pham Viet Cuong - Head of Department of Scientific Research Management. This year, HSPH Council has fulfilled its role, all 7 candidates (including 1 candidate for professor title and 6 candidates for associate professor title) met the criteria and no ones were rejected by the higher council (sectorial/inter-sectorial council). They all were awarded certificates and decisions on recognizing the title of Professor and Associate Professor at the Literature Temple (Van Mieu), Quoc Tu Giam on last December 24th.

 

Dr. Tran Huu Bich, Deputy Dean of Hanoi School of Public Health, received the decision on recognizing the title of Associate Professor in the Ceremony
