SHARING EXPERIENCE ON DEVELOPING PUBLIC HEALTH INDUSTRY IN VIETNAM FOR STUDENT

On 11th February 2014, at the Great Lecture in the Hanoi School of Public Health (HSPH), the 2nd thematic workshop in the activity series “CENPHER Seminar Series for Students – C3S” was organized by the CENPHER in collaboration with HSPH’s Youth Union. The title of this program was about the experience on developing public health industry in Vietnam for student presented by HSPH’s former Dean Prof. Dr. Le Vu Anh.

Without slide and projectors, the workshop liked a conversation with students rather than an academic presentation. With a close, simple but also extremely serious style, Prof. Anh had told the story about the development path of public health in Vietnam, team work skill in research, study and working in this field; the seriousness in approaching each subject or career concerns. The special feature in this program was that it was developed as a dialogue between teachers and students, not one-way communication (teacher talks and student listens). Students were encouraged to ask questions, feedback on what the professor shared. The atmosphere of the program was more exciting as coming to the end when student actively made enquiries and all of those was answered wittily, enthusiastically by the professor. The thematic ended with lots of applause by the student and the organizers for Prof. Le Vu Anh.

This thematic workshop series is a very good opportunity for students to listen and learn from the enthusiasm sharing of experienced teachers, and to develop their soft skills. The next workshop will be held on Monday afternoon on 3rd March 2014 at 17 p.m. at Big Lecture with the theme “You want to apply for a job, won a study abroad scholarship: How to prepare your files and how to behave in the interviews?” by presented Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Cu Linh, Head of the Department of International Cooperation and Head of the Subject of Population. The university and Youth Union encourage students to participate enthusiastically.
