The 7th International Conference on Public Health among greater Mekong sub-regional countries

    In 3 days from 25 to 27 September, Prof. Dr. Tran Bich Huu, Vice- Dean of HSPH was a head of delegation of Hanoi School of Public Health (HSPH) attending the 7th International Conference on Public Health among greater Mekong sub- regional countries (GMS). The conference expanded for the seventh time on the theme "International cooperation in policy-making based on evidence in public health" in Hue City. The conference was organized by the Faculty of Public Health and Hue Institute for Community Health Research, Hue College of Medicine and Pharmacy.

      Dr. Tran Huu Bich represented for the School to attend 10 year anniversary of Public Health Faculty in Hue College of Medicine and Pharmacy and leaders meeting of Health Public University in region about orientation and network development activities the next years. In the conference, 18 researchers represented for Hanoi School of Public Health had presentation, direct report and scientific report in poster exhibition. Presentations of two lecturers of Health Management Training Institute, Hanoi School of Public Health, MSc Nguyen Duc Thanh with “Factors associated with health insurance coverage in Cao Lanh district, Dong Thap province, Vietnam”) and MSc. Nguyen Phuong Thuy with the topic “HIV/AIDS services linkage and integration in Thanh Hoa and Long An provinces: current situation and challenges”) that received high recommendation from Evaluation Committee and awarded the third prize for direct report. Poster presentation of K10 student group Dang Thi My Hanh and Phan Ngoc Son ( topic “Knowledge on climate change and respond to climate change of people living in Hai Dong commune, Hai Hau district, Nam Dinh Province in 2014”) is only presentation among 9 exhibition groups was awarded by the Committee. Besides, the presentation in Conference, HSPH had a booth at the conference on school attracted the attention from many participants.

     The 7th International Conference on Public Health among greater Mekong sub- regional countries (GMS) consolidation targets and to strengthen international cooperation in the field of training and research in institutes and universities in GMS group had attracted nearly 400 delegates from 30 universities and institutions of 19 countries the Mekong sub-region and the United States, Australia, Netherlands, France, Japan, Korea, Singapore, India, etc.

     Held for the first time in 2008 in Thailand, the Conference is held annually, alternately in the Mekong region countries. The report presented at the conference covers all aspects of public health, such as epidemiology and infectious diseases and noninfectious diseases, health systems management, environmental health and occupational health, nutrition and food safety, reproductive health and sexual health; mental health.

     In the context of the increasing challenges of public health in the region and all over the world, through the provision of scientific evidences and practices in policy- making, the international science forum as contributing actively in significant improvements for the health status of people in the area of ​​the Mekong region countries and many other countries around the world.
