In recent times, the COVID-19 pandemic situation has been seen with very complex development in many localities across the country. Following the direction of the Ministry of Health, the HUPH’s Party Committee and Management Board together with its Steering Committee for Epidemic Prevention and Control promptly directed the mobilization of voluntary participation to support COVID-19 prevention and control from all faculty, staff, and students in the spirit of "volunteering upon the need of the Fatherland". The HUPH has urgently provided training with knowledge and skills for COVID-19 response to faculty, staff, and students, focusing on contact tracing and specimen collection for testing.

As of late May, the HUPH sent 03 teams to the epicenters of Bac Giang province (02 teams) and Bac Ninh province (01 team) tasked with contact tracing and specimen collection for testing. The total number of personnel supporting these two localities in May reached nearly 100 people.

Right after receiving Official Letter No. 4406/BYT-K2ĐT dated May 31, 2021, from the Ministry of Health on strengthening training and preparing to participate in COVID-19 response, the HUPH also developed plans, work procedures and conducted training for all lecturers and students. After the training, the University has made plans to continue sending volunteer teams to support these two provinces in the following weeks. In addition, a volunteer team was formulated by HUPH for remote contact tracing with an application of information technology to perform remote contact tracing tasks on the database provided by the contact tracing teams in Bac Giang and Bac Ninh provinces.

The voluntary spirit and efforts of HUPH in particular and the other health training units, in general, have contributed to the fight against pandemics with localities.
