The Doctorate Committee was chaired by former HSPH Dean Prof. Dr. Le Vu Anh. The dissertation supervised by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Van Toan received many positive comments from the Committee. The childcare before and after the birth is the issue needing special attention in a difficult area with low-level facilities likes Borikhamxay. This is the first study performed in this field in the province, so that it will be a good reference and useful for future research.

Despite some shortcomings such as not highlight the relationship between descriptive research and intervention studies, intervention package, and the need to do additional qualitative research, the study still gained great appreciation by the Committee for PhD candidate’s effort. In spite of encountering some language barriers or lacking of research funding, the PhD Candidate has successfully performed a valuable practical research, contributing to develop and improve the knowledge of mothers on safe motherhood at the local. After hard working  moment, the Committee agreed to approve the PhD dissertation with a vote of 7 out of 7.
