JAPANESE PARLIAMENT SENATOR – PROFESSOR KEIZO TAKEMI VISITED HANOI SCHOOL OF PUBLIC HEALTH

In  March 3rd, 2014, in the international meeting room, Hanoi school of Public Health, Associate Professor Bui Thi Thu Ha, Dean of HSPH welcomed Professor Keizo Takemi – Japanese parliament senator to visit and work in Vietnam.

Professor Takemi held many important positions in Japanese government. He used to be a Deputy Minister in charge of Health, labour and social affairs in Japan. Since 2012, Professor Takemi had been a PMU chairman of the Japan World Bank Partnership Program in universal health insurance.

Professor Takemi’s visit was under the cooperation between Vietnam and Japan Governments. At the meeting, Dean Bui Thi Thu Ha thanked Professor Takemi for his acceptation of invitation and visit to the school. In addition, Associate Professor Bui Thi Thu Ha also expressed the hope for further cooperation with Japan, especially medical universities in general and public health universities in particular.

According to Professor Takemi, his visit to Vietnam aimed to share experience in health insurance, especially how to manage the health insurance budget and health care model for the elders. Professor also agreed to contact other universities in Japan to cooperate with Hanoi school of public health in the development of HSPH Public Health central laboratory in near future. After the meeting, Professor Takemi visited the library and central laboratory.

In the framework of this visit to Vietnam, Professor Takemi also participated into series of activities such as working with the Congress Deputy chairperson Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, joining a workshop titled “Health in development” in the International convention centre etc. Professor Takemi’s visit would make an opportunity for cooperation between Vietnam and Japan in health insurance and strengthen the friendly relationship of two countries.
