The Youth of Public Health – Efforts and Creation

On 21st October 2015, at Hanoi – Amsterdam high school, award ceremony “Propose ideas to promote access to service and information about Reproductive health care and Sex of juvenile” was celebrated. The contest occurred from 13th May to 30th August 2015 for the purpose of calling for developing creative ideas and promoting access to service and information about Reproductive health care and Sexual health for Vietnamese Youth.

At the ceremony award, of nearly 90 initiatives participating in the contest, organizing committee selected 6 initiatives which is the most creative and feasible to award the first, second, third and consolation prizes, of which student groups of Hanoi School of Public Health (PHS) won 3 awards (01 first prize, 01 third prize and 01 consolation prize), accounting for 50% of all the awards of the contest.

The first prize of the contest went to group student K11 including: Luu Xuan Quy, Nguyen Quang Viet, Bui Thi Huong Quynh (Instructor: Associate Professor Ph.D La Ngoc Quan, M.S. Duong Kim Tuan – Subject Epidemiology – Statistics) with the idea “Building intervention model to raise knowledge, practice and access to Reproductive health care service of female workers of Denso Co.,Ltd Vietnam, Thang Long industrial park, Dong Anh, Hanoi.”

Group of student include Nguyen Thi Thao, Nguyen Duc Thang with topic “Application of searching information and reproductive health service, sexual health” won excellently the third prize after the contest. Idea “Intervention to raise knowledge and attitude about reproductive health of students of Le Quy Don, Dong Da secondary school 2016” of Pham Anh Duc is one of three initiatives which are awarded consolation prize by organizing committee.

Regards to evaluation of the jury, organizing committee of the contest, products which participated in the contest was closely with the subject of the contest and show the creation of youth with practical solution. Speaking at the ceremony award, Mrs. Ritsu Nacken, scepter representing for United Nations Fund for Population Activities (UNFPA) emphasize: “It is necessary that we encourage the participation of adolescents and teenagers in designing Reproductive health and Sexual health programs for youth to decide which kinds of service and information are suitable and effective to meet their needs by themselves. This is the way to guarantee that the Youth will have knowledge and skills to enter the mature stage healthy and work effectively. This will help to create a society for all people and the voice of the Youth will be listened to and applied in building national policy, too.”     

It is expected that the Organizing committee will work with each group of authors to complete the ideas and select, support finance 2000USD to pilot implementation of the projects.
