Central Public Health Laboratory

Public Health Centre Laboratory belonged to Hanoi School of Public Health, has established on 07/09/2010. Public Health Centre Laboratory is responsible for providing practical training and research for basic medicine disciplines and numbers of specialized courses in the curriculum of School of Public Health including: Microbiology, Biochemistry, Parasites, Pathophysiology-Immunology, Anatomy, Nutrition-Food safety and Occupational and Environmental Health.

Public Health Centre Laboratory has established laboratory systems to meet the need to identify, assess and monitor the chemical and biological risks in food,  and environmental pollution factors as well as infectious diseases and other agents harmful to human’s health.

The research programs conducted at Public Health Centre Laboratory will facilitate the capacity building for qualified human resources at the third level of education including Bachelor and Postgraduate study and support public health research services. Furthermore, scientific research on the relationship between of risk factors to community’s health can be served as the foundation for making concrete evidence to policy makers and propose effective implementation plan in the field of public health management.

Scope of activities

Public Health Centre Laboratory is orientated in activities associated with research and training in order to support public health services in a number of fields closely related to public health including:

  • Nutrition-Food safety
  • Environmental Health
  • Occupational health
  • Medical Microbiology, Parasites, Immunology, Medical Biochemistry
  • Epidemiology  


Public Health Centre Laboratory is equipped with high-technology facilities supporting for training, service and scientific research activities including:  Environmental testing, food testing, environmental health evaluation, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Hematology, molecular Biology etc with the human resources well educated at the leading International and National Universities

Education and Research activities


  • Staffs working at Public Health Centre Laboratory are regulatory updated knowledge and trained with the professional knowledge and technical skills
  • Public Health Centre Laboratory is responsible for training especially pratical training for basic medical subjects for Bachelor of Public Health and Bachelor of Preventive Medicine.

Scientific Research

Develop and deploy small and large-scale scientific research in the following fields:

  • Detection, screening and assessment of risk factors from food and environment for community’s health
  • Screening and evaluation of communicable and noncommunicable diseases commonly found in the community.
  • Participate in developing the assessment method and provide evidence of the impact of risk factors to public health

Central Public Health Laboratory
