Specialization Degree II in Health Organization and Management

I.TRAINING OBJECTIVES

General objective

Train senior health manager to obtain advanced knowledge and method about health operating and managing to contribute improving quality and effectiveness of public health care system and preventive care system as well as health system in general, taking in to account the industrialization - modernization and international integration context.

Specific objective

After complete the program, participants should have capacity of working as head of a department and above, as following:

- Demonstrate capacity for applying basic leaderships and management skills such as leadership and change management skills, teamwork skills, decision making skills, conflict management, and communication skills.

- Demonstrate capacity to analyze basic health management and administration based on the characteristics, structure and function of the Vietnam health system.

- Demonstrate capacity to apply quality management model such as ISO, TQM, JCI, and Accreditation.

- Demonstrate capacity for planning an intervention project following TQM model to solve problem.

- Analyze the impact of organizational structure and organizational culture to concerned behaviors

- Applying behavioral science and culture organization in the management and development of human resources for the organization

- Demonstrate capacity for analyzing the role of stakeholders, community mobilization and advocacy in addressing health issues

- Apply the principles of health economic assessment methods

- Apply the principles of health information management to evaluate the quality, integrity and compatibility of data and identify gaps in the source data collected at all levels of the health system.

- Apply inform ation technology in health information management.

II.STUDY TYPE AND TRAINING DURATION

The CK2 of health management organization degree training program applies credit system. Duration of the program has minimum of 18 months and maximum of 42 months (varies by participants schedule) since admission. Participant who has not completed the course after 24 months study should pay tuition for extension study until completion of the course.

III.TRAINING PROGRAM

The CK2 of health management organization degree training program equal to 72 credits, divided into 2 part:

Part 1:

Participants complete general component, basic component and specific course, in which, 42 credits for mandatory subjects (about 14 subjects) and 10 credits for optional subject (about 5 subjects). Participants select optional subject based on orientation register to Dept. of Graduate Education.

Part 2:

The synthesis consists of Exercise on health management (design an intervention plan or design an evaluation for health program, project) and Thesis.
